An outstanding and beautifully presented album for the sophisticated collector. Over 100 years-old and barely showing any wear except for a few pages where impatient removal of stamps has left some injuries. Contains a few stamps, but the value is in the publication itself - a magnificent example of the bookbinders art.
Has an inscription on the flyleaf from 1923, and a later bookplate on the inner front cover. The pages are interleaved with tissue, and there are contemporary advertisements at the rear. The album was introduced to overcome the plethora of new issues from new states in the post-war era, and so was designed as the first permanent album dedicated to an age or period. It is an ideal accompaniment for the experienced and urbane collector with a specialization, but who nevertheless has additional stamps that cover their earliest genesis in Great Britain and the Colonies that demand a quality home. This is an album that deserves to be treasured in its own right, but which can be complimented by a classic general collection.
