Lundy Island Comprehensive Local Post Specialized Stamp Collection Album ZAYIX

Comprehensive Lundy Island Local Post Collection - Early Puffins, Air Service Material, Overprints, Europa/Millenary Issues, FDCs & Specialist Items. An unusually broad and appealing Lundy Island local-post collection, assembled with considerably more depth than a basic one-of-each collection. The holding begins with early classic Puffin-denominated issues and develops through numerous later definitives, commemoratives and anniversary issues, with extensive specialist material throughout.

Particularly noteworthy is the strong early and mid-period representation, including early Puffin designs, surcharged and overprinted issues, 1953 Coronation material, the striking 1954 Lundy Millenary triangular issues, Europa overprints and related Millenary material, 25th and 50th Anniversary of the Lundy Post issues, and numerous later Puffin and pictorial series. The collection also contains interesting Lundy-related air service material, including Atlantic Coast Air Services and Atlantic Coast Air Lines labels associated with service to the island.

This is much more than a run of ordinary singles. Specialist interest includes complete and near-complete sets, overprints and surcharges, miniature sheets and blocks, marginal and imprint examples, first-day material, covers, souvenir pieces and contemporary philatelic ephemera. Of particular interest are Millenary/Europa material in several formats, first-day pieces, Lundy Collectors Club material, vintage dealer promotional pieces relating to Lundy, and numerous examples that illustrate the development of the island's distinctive postal history. The later portion continues with a wide variety of Lundy issues including wildlife, maritime, historical, architectural and anniversary subjects. Lundy has long occupied a distinctive place in British local-post and Cinderella philately, and this collection offers an excellent combination of early material, specialist issues, postal-history-related items and modern-era representation. It would be well suited to an established Lundy specialist looking for varieties and additional material, or as an exceptionally strong foundation for someone wishing to build a serious Lundy collection. A substantial and highly varied Lundy holding with genuine specialist depth throughout; well worth careful inspection, as many of the more interesting items are in the details rather than simply the basic stamp issues.
